Twenty-four public librarians from 22 public and community libraries in Uganda will take part in advanced information and communications technology (ICT) and proposal-writing training organized by the EIFL Public Library Innovation Programme (EIFL-PLIP) in partnership with the National Library of Uganda and the non-governmental agency, Maendeleo Foundation.
The four-day course follows a four-module ICT, project management, and communications and advocacy training programme developed and piloted by EIFL-PLIP in Uganda in 2014/15.
The same 24 librarians who attended the pilot programme are attending the new course, which responds to further skills needs expressed by trainees during evaluation of the pilot.
The training is part of EIFL’s capacity building programme for public librarians in Africa, which encourages public libraries to initiate new ICT-based services that serve community needs
