EIFL is pleased to organize a webinar on Libraries, Copyright and AI (artificial intelligence) with a focus on science and research. This is the first in a series of four EIFL webinars on copyright and libraries (further details below).

This webinar will set out core principles necessary for the making of AI policy and regulations that are supportive of science and research. It will also highlight AI provisions in copyright laws, and the status of litigation concerning the use of machine learning technologies in different jurisdictions around the world.

Artificial intelligence promises to change the world for the better in many areas including medicine and drug discovery, climate change and biodiversity. The webinar will address issues such as the principles needed to underpin AI policy and regulation to support cutting edge science and research, as well as the copyright questions that concern libraries, text and data mining (TDM) and generative AI. The expert speakers are Benjamin White, Centre for Intellectual Property Policy & Management (CIPPM) at Bournemouth University, UK, and Knowledge Rights 21 and Jonathan Band PLLC.
