EIFL has signed an agreement with scite, a platform for discovering and evaluating scientific articles via Smart Citations.
Smart Citations allow researchers to see how a scientific paper has been cited by providing the context of the citation and indicating whether it provides supporting or contrasting evidence for the cited claim.
Key features:
- Researchers and students can use the scite Reference Check to see if any references in a document they are writing or reviewing have been disputed or retracted, find missing citations, or to see how others reference the same studies.
- Researchers can use scite to create custom dashboards to evaluate groups of articles in a single place, get notified when a new supporting or disputing citation is made to one of the articles, or receive a new editorial notice, such as retracted or withdrawn. This helps to better evaluate and keep track of research topics and fields. They can also create journal dashboards to better understand how articles in journals have been cited, discover how many supporting or contrasting citations a journal has received and what is the most supported or contrasted article in that journal.
- Researchers can surf the citation web to discover and evaluate how articles cite each other through interactive scite visualizations.
- University and library staff can use institutional dashboards to see how articles from their institution have been cited, and discover how many supporting or contrasting citations their institution has received and what is the most supported or contrasted article from their institution. They can also compare their citations against other institutions to examine how work from their institution is being cited over time.
- Researchers can use Citation Statement search to search over 900M citation statements to find expert analyses and opinions on virtually any topic.
The agreement runs until 31st December 2023, and allows free access for libraries in 14 EIFL partner countries:
Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Lesotho, Malawi, Myanmar, Senegal, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
