Workshop to finalize the open access provisions of the University of Dar es Salaam publication and dissemination policy

EIFL and EIFL’s partner library consortium, Consortium of Tanzania Universities and Research Libraries, will host a workshop on open access (OA) policy at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM).

During the workshop, EIFLOAProgramme Manager Iryna Kuchma will provide a global overview of OA institutional repository policies and funder mandates, and representatives of the Tanzanian Data Lab (dLab) will speak about the UDSM open science and open data initiative.

Dr Paul Muneja, EIFL country and OA coordinator in Tanzania, will present draft UDSM OA repository guidelines, and Professor Mtui with Dr Method Samwel will speak about the Dar es Salaam University College of Education draft publication policy. Workshop participants will discuss and finalize these draft documents.

The workshop is a part of a two-year project, ‘Open access policy development in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda to make more digital content available’, funded by Spider, the Swedish Programme for ICT in Developing Regions, located at DSV, Department of Computer and System Sciences, which is part of Stockholm University.
