Kenyan public librarians at work during an EIFL capacity building workshop in 2015.

Professional development of public librarians in Kenya will be the topic of discussion when EIFL Public Library Innovation Programme (EIFL-PLIP) manager Ramune Petuchovaite meets public library stakeholders and EIFL partners in Kenya.

At the meeting, representatives of Kenya National Library Service, the Kenya Library Association, non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders will discuss the current situation, identify gaps and training needs, and share ideas for strengthening professional development of public librarians in Kenya.

The meeting follows EIFL’s successful capacity building programme for public librarians in Kenya (2014/15). The programme built librarians’ technology and e-literacy skills, their training skills to enable them to train community members to use computers and the internet, and project management skills.
