Associação Multidiscipinar de Investigaçao Cientifica in Angola has initiated a project to strengthen editorial and technical capacity of the Revista Angolana de Ciências (Angolan Journal of Sciences), to build partnerships and to build capacity to publish articles in English in order to broaden the journal’s reach in Africa and other parts of the world.
Revista Angolana de Ciências is a multilingual (Portuguese, Spanish and English) Diamond open access journal published by the Associação Multidisciplinar de Investigação Científica and Universidade Rainha Njinga a Mbande. The journal covers topics in the areas of education, science, health sciences, social sciences, humanities and engineering.
The ‘Strengthening the editorial and collaborative ecosystem of Revista Angolana de Ciências’ project will enhance the journal’s operations by professionalizing and boosting capacity of the editorial team. Specifically, the university will hire an English language copy editor and a full-time international editorial assistant who will support the journal in the areas of production, marketing, visibility and the development of strategic partnerships with other national and international journals and institutions. In addition, training will be provided for reviewers and the equipment and tools used by the journal will be upgraded.
The project is one of 33 that have received grant support through a three-year project to strengthen no-fee open access publishing in Africa implemented by EIFL, AJOL (African Journals Online) and WACREN (the West and Central African Research and Education Network), with funding from Wellcome.
