EIFL has compiled an Open Science for Health Sciences Training Programme Outline for librarians and open science trainers. The resource aims to support university and research libraries, as well as trainers working with researchers and students, by providing a structured guide to implementing open science practices in the health sciences.
The training programme outline was created in response to requests made during a monthly meet-up of Open Science trainers, organized by EIFL.
Following the approach previously tested in the EIFL Digital Research Literacy Training Programme Outline for Librarians, the Open Science for Health Sciences Training Programme Outline is divided into sections for different topics. Each section gives an overview of the topic, what the trainer should cover, and what the learner should gain by the end of the training. For each topic there are ‘Resources for facilitators and learners’, with useful materials that trainers and learners can use to improve their own knowledge or, if the licence allows, use in their own training.
The topics are:
- Introduction to Open Science
- FAIR and Open Data in Health Sciences
- Open Research Tools and Resources
- Communicating Research
- Citizen/Community Science
- Responsible Research and Ethics
We would like to thank the participants of the EIFL Open Science trainers' meet-up who identified the need for this resource, whose insights guided the choice of topics, and who reviewed the training programme outline before its release.
