ABOUT THE RESOURCE
Before Saula Public Library launched its innovative programme for traditional artists, there were no public internet facilities in Bungamati village in central Nepal. The library introduced ICT to the village, training artists and craft workers in digital design skills, speeding up design and increasing productivity. In 2010/2011 the library trained 43 craft workers in traditional fine art and computer skills; 35 craft workers in digital graphic design, and 200 school students in basic use of ICT.
The project was initiated with support from the EIFL Public Library Innovation Programme (EIFL-PLIP) in 2010. This two-page case study is based on a report received from the library in 2011.
