We have published a revised version of the EIFL Digital Research Literacy Training Programme Outline for Librarians.
The outline has been updated after a series of 12 webinars for academic (university and research) librarians who train, or plan to provide digital research literacy training, for students and researchers.
The training outline is organized into sections that follow the research cycle: Discover, Manage Research Data, Publish, Disseminate and Increase Visibility, and Measure Impact. Each section gives an overview of the topic, what the trainer should cover, and what the learner should gain by the end of the training. The outline also includes resources for facilitators and learners, with useful material that trainers and learners can use to improve their own knowledge or use in their own training.
"There is a whole list of wonderful resources that the EIFL Digital Research Literacy Training Programme Outline for Librarians provides. There are resources for workshop facilitators and for learners, including a whole range of online courses on different aspects, webinars and online tutorials, examples of presentations and training slides. Those are really useful resources!” - Niamh Brennan, Trinity College Dublin, Ireland.
The webinars
During the 12 webinars, which focused on different topics from the outline, presenters shared how training is conducted at their institutions and gave practical advice, ideas and tips for delivering the training to researchers and students.
The webinars were aimed at librarians who are training researchers and students, or who are planning to train, in areas such as writing a research data management plan and managing research data, academic integrity, choosing an effective publishing strategy, using open access routes to increase research impact, researcher identity and ORCID, social media for research, and bibliometrics.
Over 1,300 people from 49 countries participated in the 12 webinars. Many thanks to all the presenters for sharing their experiences with libraries from EIFL’s network.
“Very in-depth and wide coverage,” said Augustine Gitonga, Academic Writing Editor & Librarian at Aga Khan University in Kenya. “Such webinars are welcome. One always learns something new, or a new trick, or even something you'd never thought exists. A chance to expand knowledge.”
“Thank you, this was wonderful and so useful,” said Olivera Alomerović, librarian at АAlfa BK University in Serbia.
“A lot of work has gone into this. Amazing! Almost a one-stop shop for everything! Great tips and takeaways,” said Theodosia Adanu, College of Health Sciences Library Head, University of Ghana.
“Thank you very much for the useful information and materials you provide us in all webinars,” said a participant from the Republican Scientific Agricultural Library of the State Agrarian University of Moldova.
All the webinars are included in the revised version of the EIFL Digital Research Literacy Training Programme Outline for Librarians.
