EIFL Open Access Programme Manager Iryna Kuchma will speak about research data management and open science at the Riga Technical University (RTU) 57th International Scientific Conference.
Kuchma will provide an overview of the (openaire.eu/opendatapilot) Open Research Data Pilot in Horizon 2020, which was launched by the European Commission in 2015. The pilot aims to make research data generated by Horizon 2020 projects in eight programme areas widely accessible, while at the same time protecting sensitive data from inappropriate access.
From 2017, the Open Research Data Pilot will become the rule with the opt-out option. Kuchma will discuss what this means, and how to make data FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable).
Conference sessions take place in 17 sections representing all research areas of RTU. Over 700 participants are expected to present research themes on Latvian and global issues, as well as discussing recent achievements in science and research.
