Seventeen trainers from public libraries in Namibia will attend a four-day EIFL workshop on design thinking for public libraries and project management.
The 17 trainees were selected by Namibia Library and Archives Service (NLAS) to become trainers within the NLAS network of 65 public libraries. They will pass on their learning and skills to other librarians in the NLAS network.
Two days of training in design thinking will be conducted by a team of trainers from Aarhus Public Library in Denmark. The librarians will learn about human-centred design, an approach that develops library services that can be adapted to suit local community needs and contexts. Two days of project management training will be conducted by Asia Kamukama of Maendeleo Foundation, Uganda. Training will cover skills needed to plan, develop and manage projects in public libraries.
The workshop is part of a major initiative being implemented by EIFL and NLAS to strengthen continued professional development of public librarians in Namibia.
