EIFL will take part in the 14th Annual Meeting of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF 2019). The theme of IGF 2019 is ‘One World. One Net. One Vision’.
On Thursday, 28 November, from 15:00 to 16:30 CET (check your timezone here) the Dynamic Coalition on Public Access in Libraries (DC-PAL), which was co-created by EIFL, will host a session to look at how public access, in particular in libraries, is included in national connectivity strategies.
EIFL has invited Dr Stuart Hamilton, Head of Libraries Development at the Local Government Management Agency in Ireland, to moderate the DC-PAL session, and has also invited two speakers to address the session: Paul Kiage from the Universal Service Fund of the Communications Authority of Kenya, and Emmanuel Muyomba from the Rural Communications Development Fund and Uganda Communications Commission. Ramune Petuchovaite, EIFL Public Library Innovation Programme Manager will take part in the DC-PAL and other IGF sessions.
The IGF is a multistakeholder event that brings together stakeholders from government, industry and civil society to discuss public policy issues relating to the internet. IGF 2019 will be hosted by the Government of Germany.
