Representatives of Ghana Library Authority (GhLA) and 30 public librarians will take part in a two-day training course organized by the EIFL Public Library Innovation Programme (EIFL-PLIP) and the Ghana-based initiative, Public Libraries Initiative for Development (PLIFOD).
The workshop is the fourth module in a major training initiative involving librarians from 27 public libraries that provide public access to computers and the internet. The training aims to build librarians’ project planning, management and technical capacity, and to enable them to integrate information and communication technology (ICT) into new services that meet community development needs.
The fourth module, on library advocacy, awareness raising and communication, will be led by Kaspars Ruklis, an international communication trainer, assisted by Ramune Petuchovaite, EIFL-PLIP manager. Training will support development of communication and advocacy plans for new service ideas.
The first three modules of the training took place in June and August 2014, and built librarians’ ICT and e-literacy skills; their capacity to train community members to use ICT, and their project planning, management and research skills.
