In this T-break for public librarians who have completed training-of-trainers programmes organized by the EIFL Public Library Innovation Programme (EIFL-PLIP) team and partners in Ghana, Kenya, Namibia, Uganda and Zambia, we will demonstrate digital skills training for youth, with a focus on graphic design, using the free online graphic design tool, Canva.
Ugne Lipeikaite, EIFL-PLIP Impact Manager, will demonstrate how to train on this topic. Two guest speakers, Robert Owusu Mensah, Head of the Edward Akufo-Addo Library (Ghana), and Mindaugas Masaitis, Senior Multimedia Designer and Educator at the Vilnius County Adomas Mickevičius Public Library (Lithuania), will share practical experiences of training in graphic design skills.
The aim of the EIFL-PLIP T-breaks (T-stands for trainers) is to refresh trainers’ knowledge, share practical experiences and build a local and cross-border support network of public library trainers. Since 2017, EIFL has trained 62 public librarians in Ghana, Kenya, Namibia, Uganda and Zambia to become trainers, and they have cascaded the training to over 2,300 librarians in their countries.
