Event Date: 30 May 2024
Online

Join the first webinar in the newly-launched DIAMAS Conversation series for libraries that aims to engage libraries in advancing Diamond open access (OA) in Europe. EIFL will co-facilitate the DIAMAS Conversation series, which focuses on sustainability and other issues and challenges faced by Diamond OA publishers.

Diamond OA is a scholarly publication model in which journals and platforms do not charge fees to either authors or readers. Libraries are vital pillars of the Diamond OA ecosystem, providing infrastructure, services, and expert support to institutional publishers. Many libraries are also publishers in their own right.

The first DIAMAS Conversation will focus on the financial sustainability of European small- and medium-sized publishers at higher education institutions, and their service providers. The session will include a brief overview of the key findings of the results of the DIAMAS Institutional Publishing Landscape Survey, published in January 2024.

  • Date and time: 30 May 2024, 1pm - 2.30pm CEST
  • Registration: You can register here

Future conversations in the series will have different topics, and participants will gain valuable insights into the diverse funding mechanisms publishers have implemented and their feasibility, the indispensable role of the workforce in sustaining Diamond OA publishing, and the importance of shared resources and infrastructures.

Further DIAMAS Conversation dates and topics will be announced. Watch our website or follow us on social media (Facebook, X - @EIFLnet) for details.
