Teresa Hackett, EIFL-IP Programme Manager, will attend a meeting organized by the World Blind Union (WBU) to discuss national implementation of the WIPO Treaty for persons with print disabilities, adopted in Marrakesh in June 2013.

In 2014, EIFL will cooperate with WBU to support early ratification by all WIPO Member States, especially EIFL partner countries. So far, 19 EIFL partner countries have signed the Treaty - a positive sign of intent. The next step is to ratify the treaty in order to implement it into national law. The treaty will enter into force after it has been ratified by at least 20 WIPO Members.

EIFL looks forward to helping libraries in developing and transition countries to make a real difference to the lives of people who are blind, visually impaired or otherwise print disabled.
