The EIFL Licensing Programme is holding a webinar with guest speaker Dr Jane Secker, who will provide an introduction to digital literacy. Dr Jane Secker is Copyright and Digital Literacy Advisor at London School of Economics and Political Science. She is also Chair of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) Information Literacy Group.

Digital literacy is now a widely-used term. However there is still confusion about what the term means and whether it is simply a new term for computer or ICT (information and communication technology) literacy.

The webinar will give an overview of digital literacy by providing a definition of the term and the key areas that it includes. The webinar will also discuss how digital literacy relates to other literacies, but in particular 'information literacy', which is a term more familiar to many library and information professionals.

Dr Secker will consider digital literacy frameworks that can help libraries plan policies and strategies, and - to help inform libraries that are planning new areas of teaching - will provide an overview of digital literacy programmes currently being offered by different organizations.
