Benetech is a Silicon Valley-based nonprofit technology company that aims to empower communities with software for social good. Its work transforms how people with disabilities read and learn, makes it safer for human rights defenders to pursue truth and justice, and connects people to the services they need to live and prosper.
Benetech operates Bookshare, the world’s largest library of e-books for people who read differently due to a blindness, visual impairment, a learning disability like dyslexia, or a mobility impairment that affects their ability to read traditional print. Bookshare has over 600,000 titles that can be delivered in multiple formats on the device of your choice. There are more than a half million Bookshare members in over 80 countries.
Benetech believes all content that is born digital should be Born Accessible. Benetech works with publishers to help them produce accessible content. Under the Born Accessible umbrella, Benetech also operates the DIAGRAM Center, a research and development center whose goal is to dramatically change the way image and graphic content is produced and accessed, including STEM education content.
