In this issue we share news about a new call for proposals to enhance the quality and strengthen sustainability of no-fee open access publishing (often referred to as Diamond open access) in Africa. The call, launched by EIFL and partners AJOL (African Journals Online) and WACREN (the West and Central African Research and Education Network), is part of a three-year project that started in November 2023 with funding from Wellcome. EIFL’s Teresa Hackett reports from the ‘Unlocking Knowledge’ conference in Brussels, where a full house of academics, representatives of civil society and EU policymakers discussed issues that impede access to knowledge. And we share news about the formal launch of the Digital Learning @ Ghana Public Libraries project implemented by EIFL and partners, the Ghana Library Authority and TechSoup.
